“It is with great pleasure that we write this letter of recommendation in support of Tim Odell. We have known Tim since 2016. He helped my son, Rian Nguyen, with his international school work while living in Vietnam. Now, my son is attending Marcellin College Melbourne and is getting additional support with his mathematics. Tim is a professional, dedicated, and patient teacher. He always understands well our son's learning capability at every learning stage. One of Tim’s strengths is his academic capability in re-designing the curriculum and tailoring specific lesson plans that provide the most effective teaching and learning interaction between teacher and learner. Teaching and learning virtually are challenging; however, Tim is always patient and has applied various approaches to explain the advanced math concepts to Rian. These approaches motivate Rian not to give up whenever he struggles with difficult exercises/homework. Since having Tim as a private tutor in the last eight months, Rian’s understanding of mathematics and school results have improved significantly. In our observation, Tim is always responsive and transparent in providing detailed feedback with further customized learning goals. As a result, Rian is succeeding well in the Year 8 Mathematics program (Victorian Curriculum). We are delighted to see that Tim also nurtures Rian with a passion for learning mathematics. He guides Rian to build independent learning skills and shows him how to apply maths in various problem-solving situations.
