About

I am a proud father of two. The way I approach teaching is the way I approach parenthood. I envision a day when my students feel motivated, inspired, and fulfilled. For me, the joy comes from helping my students discover their passions and finding ways to connect what they’re learning to their interests. I’ve taught abroad and in the United States for over 13 years, written blogs, and coached teachers to share this same vision. My mission is to help students stay motivated and finish what they start. Educate, empower, and excel in all that they do.

My Story

I've always wanted to be a teacher and started at University of Northern Iowa to do just that. I saw many of my friends struggling financially and making poor decisions in college, so I changed my major to finance, thinking I'd teach people about personal finance. I changed schools and graduated from Iowa State with a job as a business analyst. Somehow, fate lead me abroad where I fell in love and decided to drop everything to start a new life in Southeast Asia. Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle, because it was there that I got into teaching again.

Thirteen years ago, I started in the Vietnamese public schools and later moved into the international schools. After returning to school to get my teaching license and masters in education, I pursued my online business and have been teaching ever since. I taught online two years before the COVID pandemic and have seen some of my students grow a lot in that time. One of my proudest moments was seeing my first student (started when he was in 4th grade) graduate from high school with honors.

That said, the number one driver for my online teaching are my two daughters. It all started with them while we were abroad. Since we could not afford the international schools, I began to home school them so they could keep up in English. The successes we saw at home gave me the confidence to venture off and pursue the online teaching - so a big thanks to my babies!

Although my online teaching slowed after moving back to America in 2022, I plan to ramp it back up in 2026. I've taught in the Iowa public school system for three years and am currently working  on another endorsement. In the mean time, I am contracted with Wukong Education (elementary) and Varsity Tutors (middle & high school) while I get my online teaching ramped up. Both are good alternatives if I can't serve you.

Below includes the breakdown of topics I can teach. For science, it's only until middle school 😅.
