About
I am a certified teacher with 15 years of classroom teaching experience. I hold a bachelor's in business finance, a masters in education, and an endorsement for mathematics teaching. I have also obtained a CELTA and TKTYL teaching certificate while abroad. My roles have included Academic Manager, Private Tutoring Manager, Curriculum Development Lead and Trainer, and teacher. I find it most fulfilling to work directly with students - teaching, mentoring, and learning alongside them.
Our Story
2015
Ten years ago, we were in Vietnam when my second child was just born. I was up to my eyeballs in debt, and trying to balance work, family, and financial responsibilities. I loved teaching and wanted to have a big impact, but didn't quite know how. I kept my nose to the grind, working 60-hour weeks - serving ESL students from primary grades to university to corporate business.
2018
2022
Flash forward three years, and my children started preschool. I knew we couldn't afford international schools, so I began to teach my daughters after school. This sparked the idea of offering my services as a private tutor/teacher on a one-to-one basis. I received my first family through word of mouth.
I went back to school and received my Master's in Education. My passion project is booming as I'm serving students in America, Vietnam, Korea, Beijing, Singapore, and Australia. Despite the successes, we needed to return to America for family matters. I had to cut down my tutoring and focus on adapting to life in America.
2026
After three years of teaching in the public system, I returned to school to get my middle school teaching endorsement. I took a year off to learn how to establish a business and established Odell Tutoring Services, LLC. (OTS)
...and beyond
We have come full circle. Our next steps will be to move back to Vietnam for the next few years. I will homeschool my children and be full-time with OTS.
